00:45:05 Jan 14th 09 - Ms. Romanian Gypsy:

This thread was created with the purpose in mind to make AARs (After Action Report). Therefore, I demand upon you, good citizens of the EU2 community, to post an update after every game session, whereupon we will have many LOL's at Spoon's expense and misfortune at being gangbanged to death by the AI, or Nimon's Might-like "ability" to run an entire session minting.

COMMENCE THE UPDATES. COME, YE!

00:45:16 Jan 14th 09 - Ms. Romanian Gypsy:

            SCOTLAND

Scotland. The land of skirt-wearing men, and beard-fashioning women. The land of an unusual dialect, a fascination with sheep, one too many hills, and the disgusting Haggis. The land that will, eventually, give rise to the greatest Empire known to man. Forget the Macedonians, *beep* the Romans. WE'RE THE SCOTTISH!

One might at first mistake this backward puddle in the northern reaches of Europe as a country inhabited by stark mad, utter raving lunatics. And to that end, you'd be right. But arm these stark mad, utter raving lunatics with pitchforks and you get an army. Sort of.

Under the inspiring (or perhaps, the only sober one amongst us) leadership of Swiffers, us Scots will prove to be an uncomprimising foe. Fed with a diet consisting exclusively of deep fried mars bars and lager, my men will show their mettle in battle and stamina on the high seas. WE WILL NOT BE DEFEATED. (Hopefully).

EDIT: Okay. We've already been defeated in our first war. Vital edit:

*WE WILL NOT BE DEFEATED AGAIN. (Hopefully)

                               1419-1450

1419 begins. The birth of a nation. We Scots start with high hopes, with ambitions to rule. But we are wise, we know that the Scots can not survive solely on a diet of haggis, mars bars and beer. Therefore, we require supplements. And Eire provides them in ample quantities. Immediately, Scotland goes to war with Eire in a conflict known as "The War of the Potatoes". They had Potatoes, we wanted them. Wales came in a package with Eire, or what you folks would call an alliance. Scotland, allied with the lesser York and Norway, also warred Wales because of this. After seizing all of Ireland and their potatoes, we turned out attention to Wales. Those dirty sheep shagging wankers.

The invasion of Wales was a success. The retention if it, was not. While we begun sieging Cardiff, Brittany (Rhade), said he wanted some of our Haggis. We gave him two fingers. So Brittany-Spears declared war on Scotland. Under my military genius, us Scots perfected an age-old Scottish tradition and battle tactic. We engaged with the Britons, we lifted our kilts, waved our nuts in their general direction, then fled the field of battle. Those Briton bastard didn't stand a chance against us. Nor did they beat us! We just strategically ran for our lives and the hills, hiding out there for a few years, before coming to a White Peace, whereupon we made an agreement not to venture south again. Us Scots are generous and kind, you see.

Over the intermitting years between 1419-1450, those Welsh wankers repeatedly declared on us before Brittany put them back in their place. On a couple of occassions they made it as far as York before retreating, leaving a trail of heavily impregnated sheep in their wake.

Otherwise, there is little else to say of the Scottish venture into the medieval period. We made money. We spent it on universities and things to make our people smarter than everybody else. We also got a pretty hefty navy from the Irish who kindly denoted it when we stole all their potatoes. But, what remains clear, is we still have ambitions.

BRAVEHEART!!!!!!!!!!

10:22:49 Jan 14th 09 - Sir Spoon:

In York, excluding Sundays, it is perfectly legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow.

Now the real reason for my post!

BAVARIAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAR

Bavaria. Total awesomeness. It's not just a beer brand. No. It's also a superawesome country in our eu2 interregnum game. Guess what? It's lead by the emperor, me.

The red lines indicate the borders at the start, when Bavaria was still a poor lost German country. But on the first of januari, 1419, Spoon came in town. After he held his speech "ICH BIN KEIN BERLINER", he won many many souls. They supported him to be the Von Bismarck of Bavaria. (= 1337!!!)

Those souls he managed to convince were ofcourse far from sober. They were drunk as hell. Go figure where the beer brand Bavaria comes from...

Yeah, from Holland. Ouch, even I didn't see that one coming.--- Ohwell! I also started out with 2 Dutch provs so.. I guess it's ok.

Anywahy, I started out by screwing Savoy over, apparantly, by taking over Mantua.. Which extended the alliance Milan was in. And I also screwed Hanseatic League by letting Saxony join my alliance. I guess I'm popular already!

After a short while rebuilding after the Bavarian - North-Italian war, I thought I'd gain some German provinces, by warring Swabia.
It didn't really work out.. :(
At first atleast. That was untill I promised my allies beer! That was when Saxony annexed Baden.. Then it suddenly went better!

I managed to steal 4 provinces from Swabia, including one 'gold' province.

The red lines once again indicate my borders. Bavaria was growing, growing to the top! ^

The provinces I made blue will be Bavarian within 15 years into the next session.. So. This is what Bavaria will look like in 15 years! ;>

21:20:57 Jan 14th 09 - Dark Lord Finwe:

Byzantium 1419

The Empire owns the agean seas and although smaller then it once was the empire is on its way back up in the world, Krete is our vassal and many others are soon to join them.

We have had many wars to enhance the power of the empire, the heretics to the east have been largly subdued after many years of warfare, they cannot match our might. The bulgars were subdued and quickly annexed. The albanians have shown themselves to be troublesome but they will be broken. The armies of the kingdom of “Heaven” fell to our mighty generals forcing them to cede the island of cyprus.

The Empire as it stands now:

The albanians to our west are our vassals and will soon add themselves to our glorious empire.

Trouble looms ahead for us as we now border the massive and dangerous Caliphate. But this will not stop our march to undying honour.

00:57:28 Jan 15th 09 - Mr. Rhade:

  Brittany

Rhade was enjoying a fine bottle of wine on New Ye*beep*ve, 1418, when confounded looking man came wandering by.  "Uhmm...Hello...sir, could you perhaps tell me where the King is?  I'm his new advisor and I seem to have gotten lost on the way."

All in that moment Rhade came up with a glorious plan, poured the rest of his wine into a glass, and then smashed the man over the back of the head with it, dumping the body in the nearby Quiberon Bay.  The King didn't need some fancypants out of towner to tell him what to do, Rhade could do it himself.

It, of course, took some time the gain the trust of the King, as he had been expecting a vastly different looking man, and an older one at that.  However, four years after accepting the job Rhade finally convinced the king to invade Bourbbonais and extend the reach of the kingdom.  Rhade had been cultivating relations with all the Occitan nations, and so upon declaration both Auvergne and Guyenne refused to come to Bourbonnais' aid.  This left her only allies, Navarra and Languedec too far away to send troops.  Brittany's infantry and large calvary divisions quickly swept the plains of the Bourbonese troops and ravaged the countryside, securing a quick victory, two provinces and the vassalage of Bourbbonais.

Now, during all this time, Rhade had been closing watching Scotland's expansion.  Most of the Eire had fallen to Scotland, though thankfully the main southern isles remained intact.  Brittany, upon Rhade urging, remained silent, but held her forces steady and waited.  As Rhade had assumed she would, Scotland went to war again and quickly annexed the isles.  As York and the Scots moved their troops into Cymru, however, Rhade secured safe passage from Cymru and moved troops in as well, going ahead of the Scottish and Yorkish armies and eating and drinking all available supplies, leading to heavy desertion from the Scots who really need to drink.  Brittany's forces moved into the Midlands, away from where the enemy armies were seiging the Welsh capital before declaring war, and immediately began seiging the Midlands to return to Cymru.  As expected, the Normans sent troops from the mainlands and Wessex immediately invaded south York.  After securing the Midlands, the Breton armies moved north, pursuing the armies retreating from the Welsh capital.

Scotland began having trouble with rebels during the war, eventually losing Meath, Strathclyde and Lothian, which Breton forces pushed north, taking Lancashire and Northumberland as the Normans continued to *beep* about in Yorkshire, priming the sheep for a Welsh invasion.  Rhade eventually secured a peace with York in which Wessex gained Lincoln.  The rebelling Strathclyde fell to Brittany, and sometime during the seige of Lothian by Breton forces, after a few battles with the scottish golden retreaters, peace was settled on the agreement that Scotland would not attempt to move south of the Lancashire/Yorkshire territories for twenty-five years, as Brittany did not want any part in the sheep-raping provinces of england.

Cymru joined the alliance, but continues to be resistant to attempts to vassalize, so southern england still has a way to go before coming under indirect Breton rule.  Wessex remains a vassal, as do Normandy and Bourbbonais.

Savoy, a close ally of Brittany's, annexed Orleans in the 1440s, which Brittany had been eyeing for some time.  As a gesture of good faith, the original lands of Orleans were ceded to Breton rule, and continental military conquest ended for Brittany.

This is Brittany as of 1450, the important provinces outlined in white.  We control Cornwall as well...but...a lot of sheep lovers live there.  Outlined in teal are provinces that will be annexed by Brittany sometime soon, and outlined in blue are the countries that will stay in the Breton-led alliance, unified against the northern threat of Scotland.

16:50:10 Jan 18th 09 - Mr. Aphrodite:

HungAARian expansion 1419-1450

The Crown of the Empire. Already 450 years old in 1450.

The hungarian nation is big and it is lead by a king with little power. The real power lies in the nobles and their view of what is good for hungary is everything that is good for them. King after king has tried to change the current laws and take real controle of the kingdom. As it stands in 1450 our glorious nation is taking a real toll thanks to theese so called patriots.

Hungary starts out in a weak position surrounded by enemies, to the east the Byzantian orthodox heretics. To the north the Teutonic Order of zealous fanatics threatens the peace. And to the west the Bavarian empire is expanding at a rate that is impossible to match. Even so hungary has expanded its borders and defended against many enemies, both internal and external.

We fought the Moldavian and Vallachian alliance and defeated them in early 1420. Just as peace was signed the Serbo/Bulgarian alliance marched in on Moldavian soil in an attempt to annex them. With the new treaty of friendship with Moldavia that was signed after the war we where forced to go to war once again. What seemed like an easy war to win turned out to be the bloodiest yet in the history of Hungary.

For several years we fought until the final battle of belgrade the Serbo/Bulgarian alliance force was defeated and Serbia was made a part of national Hungary.

Battle of Belgrade 1428

The development of Hungary and its client states(vassals soon to be incoporated into the realm). The black lined spaces is the land under direct controle of Hungary and the grey is land beloning to rulers who has sweared allegiance to hungary and pays tribute(the vassals).

Hungary in the year 1419

Hungary in the year 1450

The state of the empire in 1450 is in great dismay. While other nations has had time to expand its sciences and infrastructure Hungary has been ruptured by internal and external wars and rebellions. Though big in size Hungary is a backward country as it stands. The coming years will have to be spent in improving the army, trade, everything. We are big and weak. But we will punish every agression against our soil. Take this as a warning, you know who you are!

17:00:10 Jan 19th 09 - Mr. Messiah:

FOUND AND LOST

- An after action report about the Hanseatic Legue 1419-1450

The Hansa has become renowned just as much for their trading enterprises as they have for their utter lack of bravo in the art of war. Eldermann Augh was no exception. When he took the position as Eldermann, chairman of the Hansetag(Hansa parliament), he immidiatly expanded trade to new markets.

Trading cities all over Europe where sending applications to join the Legue, in rapid succession Hannover, Firenze and London where soon flying Hansa banners. And all seemed fine.

But the troublesome times arose. A merchant from Bremen came across a horrible truth - Eldermann Augh was not only a heretic, worshipping money over God. He also had an apetite of sodomizing with men while dressing up in womens clothes.
The merchant told this to everyone he knew. When it came to Aughs knowledge that his ugly truth was known he tried to get the merchant from Bremen arrested and executed, but the man had already fled to Saxony who refused to extradite him. The Eldermann then decided to declare war on Saxony - for as he said in his great speach held at the Hansetag in Lübeck:
"Not only do they harbour this criminal that has defaminated my reputation! They also have a vast populace of late blooming choir boys...."
[a member of the audience asked why this was important]
"Why? Eh. I need to employ their ass.... I mean 'employ' them as bodyservants. Yes, servants. Anyway, moving on, my main point is that I'm horny... I mean, I got a horn.. I mean they are a thorn in the flesh of the Hansa"

The Hansetag unanimously voted for war.

In the war Bavaria and other german nations came to the aid of Saxony. The Hanseatic army was slaughtered and prisoners where ridiculed for being such sissies. The Emperor then felt pity for the Hansa(after all, he shared the same tastes as the Eldermann) and agreed to a white peace if Hansa agreed to have all their soldiers give blowjobs to all of the Emperors troops - wich they did in a most satisfactory manner(sucking was after all, the prime skill of Hanseatic troops).

The Pope however was not as unforgiving, later the same year he excommunicated Eldermann Augh. Nations all over Europe took to arms agains their local Hansa merchants.

In the end Hansa could only get peace by sceeding Firenze to the Papal States and Novgorod to Suzdal.

And that is where we stand at the end of last session. New estate has been found - and lost. And Eldermann Augh has sex with choir boys.

20:31:53 Jan 19th 09 - Mr. Ghouma:

Al Andalus
1419-1450
Living for memories.

The modern history of Al Andalus starts off with the continuation of the eternal hostilites against the Christian kingdoms in Iberia. Léon and Castilia being the prime antagonists. The Sultan wanted to break the stalemate in Iberia that had lasted for hundreds of years and claimed most of the peninsula as Andalusian land. This however was seen as a very beligerent move and throughout Europe and the mid-eastern neigbours there was a wave off worrying about the Sultans ambitions.

Soon after plans where proposed to the Sultan to further fortify the Gibraltar straits in order to collect more tariffs, of course this further infuriated the European nations.

The Sultan however was not sensitive about theese sorts of things, he had been brought up in a system that was the result of grand expansion. The expansion however had been stoped several hundred years ago but the conciousness of the royal house was still living in the days of old.

The arrogance of the sultan did not go over well with Leon, Porto and Castlia. Infact they declared war over the sultans arrogance. This time however the sultans advisors urged him not to do anything drastic, as war dragged on however the Duchy of Languedoc also declared war on Al Andalus, now the Sultanate had a two front war. Determine to save the state finances the advisors got the Sultan to end the war with Leon, Porto and Castilia and by threatening the Castlian capital return to status quo terms was agreed upon. Now Langedoc was alone and the Sultan himself led the army to first conquer Gerona and then Roussillion. Being terrified the lords of Langedoc gave up Gerona to the pleassure of the sultan who now felt like one of his victorious predecessors. He died soon after.

After this ,money was invested into infrastructure, a manufactory was built in Toledo and religious conversions was attempted. The Sultanate needed to lay low with its growing ambition, this however did not mean anything to the Christian nations in Iberia who once again declared war, this time the Tlemcen dynasty in Alergeria was also involved on the Sultanates side. The war took some time, but resulted in crippeling the christians, the Tlemcen's took annexed Porto and Al Andalus claimed Leon. Soon after this triumph, increasing Andalusian preassure on the court of Morrocco forced them into subjegation beneth the Andalusian throne.

04:24:21 Jan 20th 09 - Lord Protector Nimic:

               Savoy
                 1419 - 1450

Savoy and Savoyan vassals in 1419

Savoy in 1419 was a small nation, it's only redeeming feature it's good options for expansion. With Occitan, French and Italian cultures as a part of their heritage, Savoy had rightful claims on large areas of Southern Europe. The Savoyan king had gotten word that the Duke of Burgundy, his vassal, was about to cancel the vassalisation unjustly, so quickly had 7,000 more cavalry recruited, ready to put down the rebellion. Shortly thereafter it happened, and the king wasted no time in banishing Burgundy from their alliance with Savoy and Orleans. Exactly one year later the Savoyan army moved on Burgundy, and though fighting was harder than the king had been assured it would be, Burgundy fell soon, having only it's capital left.

A few years later, the Germanic barbarian nation of Bavaria violated Savoyan claims on Italy, waging war on nations the Savoyan king had set his sights on. In the war he then seized an Italian province, a great affront to the sovereignty of the Italian mainland.Vowing that Italy would never again be assailed by barbarians from deep Germania, the king made his feelings about this very clear, advising that the Bavarians seriously re-thunk his Italian ambitions.

During the following years, many advances were made, though not in Italy as previously expected. Instead, all the Occitan nations were put in vassalage under the king of Savoy. The state of Orleans, another vassal for some time, was then annexed into Savoy, some part of it's lands being presented to the king of Brittany as a part of an earlier agreed partition of France proper

Savoy and Savoyan vassals in 1450

19:09:05 Jan 21st 09 - Ms. Romanian Gypsy:

                              SCOTLAND

                                                                                        Hello.

                                                1450-1490

A new age has decended upon us; The Age of Waiting-for-the-Age-of-Exploration. This era marked not the fruitition, nor the ripening of the Scottish Empire. What it did mark was the steady growth of the Scottish sapplings, from which the tree of our Life, and it's branches, shall eventually grow to stretch across the entire globe.

In a remarkable era, Scotland had perhaps an unremarkable ride compared to that of it's neighbours. We couldn't boast no repeat of the massive victories over the Britons, but what we did do, under the sound leadership of Swiffers, was build an economic platform. Going into 1419, one has to remember that Scotland had perhaps the worst economy of all the nations in Europe. Swiffers knew that to successfully challenge, he would need to expand agriculturally. And to that end, Scotland was able to increase production by over 60%, moving her from last on the economic power boards, to, well, last. Perhaps pinning our entire export market on the sales of Haggis wasn't such a bright idea after all. But progress is progress!

Diplomatically however, Scotland yielded much more success. York, our vassal, was incorporated into our realm through a diplomatic annexation, extending our fledgling Empire by an entire one province. In addition to this, Swiffers was able to craftily gain the Midlands, from the Welsh wankers. On the onset of war with Wales (those sheep shaggers having yet declared war again), Scotland lobbied to the Britons the need for repayments for the cost of repeated declarations (having needed to recruit more troops, to replenish those lost against Wales). Reluctantly, Brittany gave it's "permission" (I think they were actually scared of Scottish might, instead!), and Scotland captured the Midlands, while Brittany kicked Wales out of the alliance and forcefully annexed Wales to join their own small, feeble kingdom.

Besides this, Scotland was able to demonstrate it's financial stability, by using it's coin tender as a means of loaning out to the less "developed", and instable (both financially, and leadership) countries. Savoy, led by the midget-King Nimoink, ally of the Britons, was given a generous 8-year loan by Swiffers, amounting to the pricely sum of 265 Scottish marks, at a fixed interest rate of 10%. Nimoink, midget-King, soon rescinded on the loan, and on the expiration of it in the 8th year, refused to pay the loan back in full, thus giving us a casus belli. Despite Scotlands generosity however, not all European nations were able to benefit from our kindness. The heathen kingdom of the Caliphate managed to run up a inflation rate of 22.3% during a war against the Byzantines (our most strongest of allies), and so we laughed at them. A lot.

19:45:16 Jan 24th 09 - Mr. Lyko:

                                              Teutonic Order
                                                    1450-1490

Lord protector Lyko went away traveling the world for a couple of years, in search of new technology and gold. When he came back he saw that the men he had left to rule of the Teutonic order had brought the country to ruin. All our neighbours hated us and 1 vasal had left our rule. It only took a couple of days after his return untilt eh enemy declared war. The teutonic order was now engaged in a 4 front war.

a screen on the situation when Lyko returned.

We decided to deal with Finland and Ryazan first.. we sent a army of 20k cav to deal with goldenhorde and the cossacks for the moment so they wouldn't advance to long into my country.

Ryzan was easy as our ally suzdal seems to focuse on them mostly also. Afterwards we thought of pushing into finland but the terrain and climate was to harsh and a war there would take to much resources so we engaged their armies tryign to take ingermanland and peaced them as fast as we could. when peace was retained with ethe fins we took our ingermanland army to estland and started to siege it. The army in ryazan easily crushed the enemies army and after a year or 2 into the war we where sieging their capital.

So now we thought of pushing the goldenhordes out of the war. this was easily done as their terrain was mostly plain and our cavalry smashed their armise one after the other. Peace with golden horde was no retained with no gain or loss. Now we only had danzig and scandinvian nation left. The scandinavians didn't want to peace that easily so we had to build up our navy and siege more of their provinces close to us. We sent an expedition to gotland but it failed big time. so after building up our armies we sent another to finland and it was succesfull. After sieging finalnd we gave gotland another try and it was succesfull also. but the damn scandinavians still didn't want to peace so stockholm was over next target. meanwhile we were warring in sweden. the goldenhorde and byzantium allies declared war again and this time finland declared war agin to so we had 3 front war upon us again. Finland was peaced out easily as their armies was still frail. but this time we decided to end the goldenhorde threat once for all. But it seemed like hungary wanted a peace and the way to sibiria to. So with our join effort goldenhorde was in ruin after a 2-3 years of warring. but we will never forget that hungary and their decieving leader love betrayed us and our deal we had with them.

so after 39 years of wars we had the last year in peace. our war exhastion is at 18% in some provinces witch lower our income drasticly and increases the revolts within the realm.

shows our realm after 39 years of wars. increase in mass but a huge decrease on income and increase in inflation :(.

So sum it up. we got what we wanted almost but it was on to high terms. We lost our vassal when we were Ai'ed. and our neighbours to the south got time to do his evil plot and betray us. Increased inflation and to much money spent on soldiers instead of tech and improvements.

The pictures are inspired from our master ghouma!

20:44:23 Jan 24th 09 - Mr. Ghouma:

Al Andalus 1450-1490
Slow progress is still progress

In the prophets year of 972 (1450 AD), there was still plenty of hostilities between the Sultan of the Al Andalusi realm and the remaining Christians on the Iberian Peninsula, war broke out almost regularly. The Sultan however was not impressed with the lands held by the Infidels, he didn't see them worth the bad reputation he would get if he chosed to invade them. Much different from his predecessor. However an opportunity arose when a league of Italian states led by the Pope declared war on our allies in Algerian who had expanded into Sicily. The pope had for a long time instigated crusades into Iberia, now it was time to strike into the heart of christianity and end these foolish attempts to overthrow the Sultans reign. A great army was assembled and the royal fleet was prepared, the army counting forty-five thousand men led by the sultan himself landed in Naples. After conquering the city the kingdom of Naples  offered a small amount of money to be left alone. Since the Sultan saw no value in conquering southern italy the offer was accepted and the army marched north, to Rome. The sultan decided to divide the army and sent for even more troops, soon almost the entire papal state was besieged by Andalusi troops. Except for a minor incident with bavarian troops involving themselves where they had no business the war was painless and soon ended with the complete surrender of the papal states to the Al Andalusi sultan.

Proposals where made to reform the army and make an elite guard of christian slave soldiers. The Sultan was exited although critics believed that the country would take to many steps into becoming a society of warriors. But the sultan wanted to go through with the plans to the greatest lengths possible and a great military center was created near Cordoba. Soon after the war with the Italians ended, it was time to refigure the relationship with Morocco, and fully integrating the vassals into the realm of Al Andalus was an easy task. Now more possibilities had opened southward, and plans was immediately made to expand further south into the Lands of Mali. The new conscription center in cordoba was set to great use and large amounts of soldiers was sent south through the Sahara desert. It was time to expand the kingdom in a lucrative way, and as soon as war was declared our troops swarmed over the border. The war went great at first but the Malinese army was way stronger then expected, even though we fully exploited the manpower of the Andalusi realm victory still was hard to achieve. However the numerous victories was enough for king of Mali to realize he was beaten and we could claim two provinces.

On the home front not much happened, the sultanate didn't conquer a single province in Iberia and only one province was converted into the true faith, after as many as nine larger conversation attempts.

14:48:50 Jan 25th 09 - Mr. Messiah:

BACK IN BUSINESS
                            -  A  Hansa  AAR  1450-1490

After the violent and sexually explicit first half of the 15th century a time of stability and progress ensued for north german trade federation aka the Hanseatic Legue.
The Hansa had pulled back territorially from Russia and Italy, but on the markets the presence was gradually increased. In the 60's several centers of trade where monopolized. The legue was once again becoming one of the richest countries in Europe, all while being one of the smallest. Seeing however, the weakness in being a small country when it comes to military ventures Munster, Gelre and Friesen, who had been affiliated members of the Hansa, where incorporated into the realm.
Eldermann Augh also struck a deal with the Emperor, allowing him to pass through north germany and granted him the help of the Hanseatic fleet in his attack on Nordrige in exchange for giving Jutland to the Hansa.

In the end the this 40 year period meant the Hansa increased from 7 provinces to 12 and an increase in income by 86% per year. Compared to the other nations the Hansa had the 3rd highest income while remaining the smallest country. Sciencewise we where ahead in navaltechnology and trade but behind in military technology.

18:23:15 Jan 27th 09 - Mr. Rhade:

Brittany!!

This is Brittany as of 1450, the good guys in red and her territory in green.  Unfortunately, due to consecutive declarations of war on Scotland by the Welsh, Brittany was in a very unstable position.  The next few decades would prove to be no different.

A few years down the road, the bastards in Cymru disregarded Rhade orders again and declared war on Scotland.  In response, Normandy and Bourbonnais came to their aid.  Wessex, however, did not.  The news reached Rhade while he was in one of his nightly drunken stupors.  The free wine the kingdom provided him was, after all, healthy.

Having had enough and feeling that it was a good idea, Rhade refused to allow Brittany to engage in another war with Scotland and left the Welsh to fight on their own.  That was, at least, until he declared war upon them the next day during his angry hangover.  In his shortsightedness, however, Rhade failed to remember that Cymru was still allied with Bourbonnais and Normandy, and ended up warring all three.  Bourbonnais was quickly annexed, followed by peace with Normandy requiring Caux and vassalization.  The welsh were annexed shortly after they ceded the Midlands to Scotland, and the imposition of Breton rule on the land quickly altered the culture there from dirty Welsh to Breton.

Unfortunately war was on Brittany's eastern front, and it seemed that she would need to get involved to settle the conflict without too much bloodshed.  Two large nations, Bavaria and Savoy, had been at war for some time now, and Rhade was tired of it.  He swiftly declared war on Bavaria shortly after peace with Cymru, and invaded the northwest german territories.

Fortunately the other war ended soon after and Brittany was able to secure a white peace with Bavaria.

The situation didn't go as smoothly in Normandy however, as the bastards eventually ended their vassalization and joined an alliance with Genoa and Sicily.  Rhade bided his time, and as soon as their alliance expired he struck, annexing the troublesome normans in one fell swoop.

Brittany now simply awaits the arrival of her explorers and conquistadors, intent on ravaging the New World.

03:50:46 Jan 28th 09 - Duke Arzun:

Brittany

As years went on, Rhade became ill, and another was chosen to take his place for the years he was hospitalized in an old school, with little children in nurses uniforms. Arzun recommended a hospital, but he would have no such thing.

Brittany at the start of the session.

Soon after Arzun took over the realm of the Bretons, the evil gaelic tyrant Swifty invaded and took most of Brittany's vassal, Wessex. Arzun began to fortify his provinces in England to secure his realm.

Swifty invading.

The war started with Breton troops invading Scotland from the north, the plan was a good one, but not well initiated. The troops sieged and moved on, only to be slaughtered in The Grampians. It was not years before the scotish finally eliminated the resiliant forces in The Highlands.

The Breton navy was no match for the Scots however, and so aid from the homeland was minimal, and the transport ships had all been wrecked, so what troops could be brought over were brought in small amounts. This, amoung other things led to Bretons defeat.

The Breton army had many great victories in the long war.

Even when outnumbered they pulled off victory, but in the end this was not enough, and Brittany was expelled from England. Given some time of peace, she was able to focus on some colonizing, but did not get to far, managing to secure a base in the New World with conquistadors and Explorers at her doorsteps.

                                                          SCOTLAND

                                                                                        Hello.

                                                1490-1542

A new age has descended upon us; The Age of Exploration! The Age that would set us men apart from the boys of Europe. Except not all went to plan and mighty Scotland was unable to get around to doing much exploring, as had been planned.

Our coffers were full. Our ships ready. Our eyes on the horizon. We were ready to set sail for our maiden voyage, to explore the new worlds and establish colonies in my name, when, I noted some curious events south of the border.

Rhade, Queen of the Britons, had contracted a particularly bad case of genital warts, and owing to that, had allowed Prince-Regent Arzun, the washer woman, to rule in his stead. One might remember that after the earlier war vs Brittany, during which our noble warriors strategically fled the field of battle to ensure victory, we had signed a peace agreement with Rhade, Queen of the Britons, where upon we agreed to not venture south of the border for 50 years. That agreement had expired. And we took advantage of it ruthlessly.

Wessex, Vassals of Brittany, but no longer in their alliance, wrote a letter to King Swiffers, stating that the Briton tyrants had ate all their turnips and were in dire need of help. So gentle, generous Swiffers, came to their aid. And we uh. Well we took all but one of their provinces.

Arzun, washerwoman, was not impressed at having lost his vassal. We anticipated war. And it came. Our navy was set to sea, and trailed the Briton's to Ireland, before losing sight of them. The Briton's managed to amphibiously assault the Highlands, while thrusting with their larger forces from Cornwall. I made a call to arms, and the Clansmen came. Rushing down the hills, through the marshes and bogs, to Northumberland. There we mustered a Grand Army, 60,000 men in strength, and met the advancing Briton's, 30,000 in number, at Yorkshire. They were anhilated.

The war followed the Battle for Yorkshire in a similiar vein. Despite a few minor hiccups, Scottish might prevailed, despite being outnumbered, technologically inferior, and having the worst economy in Europe. To ensure no more aggression from Brittany, Scotland made clear claims: Wessex, Wales, and the Briton launching pad, Cornwall. Those demands were accepted.

With the war finished, Scotland then went about rebuilding the economic infrastructure of the nation, and despite increasing output by over 130%, the largest by any nation in the session, we found ourselves still ranked 8th. Stupid ranking system.

Teutonic Order
1490-1542

In 1490 the Russian crusade began. Our allies in the north didn't like it so much so the alliance we had with them started to slowly crumble. A war was declared , can't remember who wanted us dead as all our neighbours wanted us dead. but anyway our allies broke the alliance and declared war on us. we quickly sieged suzdal and tver. Annexied tver and captured 3 provinces from suzdal. the goldenhorde still declares war on us regurly every 5 years becuase they have a province in the middle of our realm. when we now were in peace we prosperted greatly increasing our gold and sending merchants all around the world. the second war against suzdal and finland was victorius for us again. sieged and captured all of suzdal pathetic provinces. the quicly peaced us giving us all their provinces except theuir capital but that will soon be incorpared into our realm. in the middle of 1530 we decided to end suzdals misery by annexing them and to make finland our vassal or even grab som provinces. but our deceiving neighbours to the south the hungarian empire declared war on our vassal hoping we wouldn't notice, but we did. Armies we recrutied, peace was established with the heritics of the north and the great march to save our breathern in the south began. Hungary quicly captured our vassals provinces and started to siege our own. we sent our 2 main armies to stop them. Our biggest army lead by our grand marshal got the order to kick out hungary from the polish region and after he succes he would invade and capture the cities witch the polish people lived in to free them from hungarian rule. Our second army was sent down to free our vassals from the hungarian armies and after that invade the hungarian provinces in southern russia. the war lasted only a couple of years when the hungarian monarch tried to sign peace while he was cowaring in fear after our armies had destroyed one by one of his armies. Our resptect for the hungarian king drasticly lowerd after his cowardice war against us trying to snatch our vassals lands while we was in war. We will never forget this.
